Maps created with Inkarnate are yours. Inkarnate does not claim ownership of the original maps you create using the platform.

Commercial use is included with the Studio plan. Any map, made exclusively with assets included in the commercial subscription, exported while you have an active Studio subscription may be used commercially, including after your subscription has expired or been canceled.

What Can I Do with My Maps?

Maps exported while you have an active Studio subscription may be used for both personal and commercial purposes. Examples include:

  • Selling printed or digital maps.

  • Publishing maps in books, adventures, or magazines.

  • Using maps in commercial games.

  • Using maps in monetized videos or streams.

  • Selling products that include your original maps.

You retain ownership of the original map you created.

Restrictions

Commercial rights apply to your original work, not to the individual Inkarnate assets. You may not:

  • Sell or redistribute individual Inkarnate assets.

  • Extract or reuse Inkarnate assets outside of complete maps.

  • Sell collections of Inkarnate assets without creating an original map.

  • Use another creator’s map commercially without their permission.

If your map contains imported assets or purchased assets, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary commercial rights to use those assets.

After Your Subscription Ends

Cancelling your Studio subscription does not revoke the commercial rights for maps that were exported while your subscription was active. Those exported maps remain licensed for commercial use.

After your subscription expires:

  • Your account is downgraded to the Free plan.

  • Previously exported maps remain licensed for commercial use.

  • Your maps are not deleted.

  • Maps containing paid features or assets become read-only and cannot be edited unless you renew your subscription.

You can still download your existing maps in the last used editing resoltuion.
