Last updated 5 minutes ago

Inkarnate is an online map-making application for creating world maps, battle maps, city maps, regional maps, and other worlds.

Maps are created by combining terrain, textures, objects, and text using simple drawing and editing tools. No image editing experience is required, allowing both beginners and experienced creators to design detailed maps.

What Can You Create?

Inkarnate can be used to create many different types of maps, including:

  • World Maps

  • Regional Maps

  • City Maps

  • Battle Maps

  • Dungeon Maps

  • Interior Maps

  • Science Fiction Maps

  • Custom illustrations and scenes

Maps can be exported as high-resolution images for digital or printed use.

How the Editor Works

The editor is divided into a few simple concepts:

  • Brushes paint terrain and textures.

  • Stamps are used to place objects such as trees, buildings, rocks, furniture, and decorations.

  • Lines & Shapes are used to create editable roads, rivers, walls, rooms, and other repeatable objects.

  • Text adds labels, titles, and annotations.

  • Layers help organize different parts of your map.

As you work, Inkarnate automatically saves your progress and lets you export finished maps whenever you’re ready.

Beyond the Editor

Once you’ve created a map, Inkarnate provides additional tools to help you share and reuse your work.

  • Export maps as high-resolution images, including up to 16K resolution.

  • Share your maps with the community.

  • Explore and clone community maps to create your own editable copy that you can customize and build upon.
