How to Upload / Delete Custom Assets

Written By Philipp Brockerhoff

You can upload your own artwork to Inkarnate and use it alongside built-in Assets in your maps.

Custom Assets can be uploaded directly through the Catalog or through the Art Manager. The Catalog provides a basic upload and delete workflow, while the Art Manager provides additional options for organizing, configuring, updating, and archiving Assets.

Once uploaded, your custom Assets can be found and used through the Catalog.

Uploading Custom Assets

There are two ways to upload custom Assets:

  • Catalog: Upload Assets directly while browsing for artwork. This is the quickest option when you simply want to add an Asset and use it in your map.

  • Art Manager: Upload Assets with additional options for assigning them to Styles and Packs, adding Tags, configuring properties, and managing them later.

After uploading, your custom Assets appear in the Catalog and can be used like other Assets. Custom Assets are private by default unless they are published.

For supported file formats, filename options, Tags, updating existing Assets, and other upload settings, see Uploading Assets.

Managing Custom Assets

Open the Art Manager to organize and configure your uploaded Assets. From there, you can:

  • Rename Assets.

  • Add or change Tags.

  • Create Packs and move Assets between them.

  • Configure Asset-specific properties.

  • Update uploaded artwork.

  • Archive or delete Assets.

Tips

  • Archive Assets instead of deleting them when you want existing maps that use those Assets to remain unchanged.

  • Use Packs and Tags to keep larger custom Asset libraries organized.

  • Use consistent filenames when you expect to update Assets later.
