A Preset Asset defines a custom Brush preset that can be used with the Brush Tool.

Preset Assets control the shape and behavior of the Brush Tip, including its size, opacity, spacing, scatter, and other randomized properties.

When creating a Preset Asset, enter a name and choose one of two Brush Tip types:

• Circle: Uses a configurable circular Brush Tip.

• Shape: Uses a Stamp Asset as the Brush Tip.

Preset Properties

Both Circle and Shape Presets share the following properties:

• Size: Controls the Brush Tip size. Size can use a fixed value or, where available, a minimum and maximum range controlled by Pen Pressure or Pen Angle.

• Size Jitter: Randomly increases or decreases the Brush Tip size within the configured range.

• Opacity: Controls the opacity of the Brush Tip.

• Opacity Jitter: Randomly varies opacity within the configured range.

• Spacing: Controls the distance between consecutive Brush Tip impressions along the stroke.

• Scatter: Randomly offsets Brush Tip impressions perpendicular to the direction of the stroke.

Circle

Circle Presets use a configurable circular Brush Tip and additionally provide:

• Softness: Controls how soft or hard the Brush Tip edge appears.

Shape

Shape Presets use a Stamp Asset as the Brush Tip and additionally provide:

• Rotation: Sets the base rotation of the Brush Tip.

• Rotation Jitter: Randomly varies the rotation of each Brush Tip impression.

Brush Tip Behavior

The individual shape repeatedly applied along a Brush stroke is commonly called the Brush Tip. Each placement of that tip along the stroke can be thought of as a Brush Tip impression.

Spacing, Scatter, Jitter, and Rotation Jitter control how those impressions are distributed and varied as you paint.
