A Grid Layer displays a configurable grid on your map. Use Grid Layers to align objects, create maps for tabletop games, or provide visual reference while editing.
Multiple Grid Layers can be added to a map, allowing different grid styles or overlays to be displayed simultaneously.
Main Grid
One Grid Layer is designated as the Main Grid. The Main Grid is used by features that support Snap to Grid, such as the Land Tool, Brush Tool, Stamp Tool, and Line & Shape Tools.
Change the Main Grid by right-clicking a Grid Layer and selecting Set as Main Grid.
Layer Options
Grid Layers provide the following settings:
Grid Shape: Choose between Rectangles, Isometric Rectangles, Hexagons, and Rotated Hexagons.
Columns: Controls the number of grid columns.
Rows: Controls the number of grid rows.
Horizontal Offset: Moves the grid horizontally.
Vertical Offset: Moves the grid vertically.
Opacity: Adjusts the transparency of the grid.
Line Width: Controls the thickness of the grid lines.

Tips
Lower the grid opacity to make it easier to work without distracting from the map.
Use a Layer Mask to hide the grid on parts of your map.
Adjust the grid offsets to align the grid with existing map features.
