Groups

Groups allow multiple objects to be managed as a single object while preserving the individual objects inside the group. Use groups to keep related objects together, making them easier to move, transform, and organize.

Objects inside a group remain fully editable and can still be selected individually after entering the group.

Creating and Editing Groups

Groups are created from two or more selected objects. To create a group, use one of the following methods:

  • Press Ctrl + G.

  • Click Create Group in the top panel.

  • Right-click the selection and choose Create Group.

Groups can be selected like any other object. To edit the objects inside a group, use one of the following methods:

  • Double-click any object in the group on the canvas.

  • Double-click the group in the Object Panel.

  • Right-click the group and select Enter Group.

While editing a group:

  • Only objects inside the active group can be selected.

  • Newly created objects are automatically added to the active group.

  • The Object Panel displays only the contents of the current group.

  • A navigation hierarchy at the top of the Object Panel allows you to move back to parent groups or the scene.

To exit a group and return to the scene, press Esc twice or double-click SCENE at the top of the Object Panel.

To remove a group while keeping its objects, select the group and press Ctrl + Shift + G, click Ungroup in the top panel, or choose Ungroup from the context menu.

Properties

Groups support many of the same properties as individual objects. These properties affect every object within the group while preserving the relative position of the objects.

  • Scale: Adjust the size of the group and all objects inside. Press W/S to adjust the group scale. Hold Shift to adjust it in increments of 10. Alternatively you can hold Shift + Mouse wheel to change the scale.

  • Rotation: Rotate the entire group to any angle. Press </> to adjust the rotation in increments of 15°. Hold Alt to adjust rotation in increments of 1. Alternative you can hold Ctrl (+ Alt) + Mouse Wheel to change the rotation.

  • Sublayer: Control the display order within the active Object Layer. See Object Layers for more information.

  • Flip: Flip the group horizontally or vertically.

  • Opacity: Adjust the transparency of the group. A value of 100 is fully opaque, while 0 is fully transparent. Press E/D to adjust the opacity. Hold Shift to adjust it in increments of 10

Additional Features

Managing Group Members

Objects can be moved between groups at any time. The object context menu provides the following actions:

  • Add to Group: Move the selected objects into another group on the same Object Layer.

  • Remove from Group: Remove the selected objects from their current group.

Nested Groups

Groups can contain other groups, allowing complex scenes to be organized into multiple levels. Nested groups behave like any other group and can be entered, edited, and transformed independently.

Groups and Sublayers

A group is assigned to a single Sublayer, which determines its rendering order within the Object Layer.

Objects inside the group can still use any of the 21 available sublayers. These sublayers only affect the rendering order of objects within the group, creating a second level of sublayer ordering.

In scene styles that use Isometric Ordering, each group uses a single anchor point located at its center for automatic depth sorting.

Tips

  • Group objects that belong together, such as buildings, furniture, or clusters of vegetation, to make them easier to manage.

  • Use nested groups to organize large or complex scenes.
