Assets are art resources that can be used in the Inkarnate editor. Each Asset contains an image together with properties that determine how it appears, behaves, and can be found in the Catalog.

Assets are organized into Packs and can belong to a Style. Their available properties depend on the Asset type.

See Uploading Assets for instructions on creating new Assets.

Asset Types

Inkarnate supports four Asset types:

  • Stamp: An image placed as an Object in a scene. This also includes Composites, which are custom Stamp images created from the contents of a Map.

  • Stamp Set: A collection of related Stamps grouped into a single Asset.

  • Texture: An image painted onto Brush Layers with the Brush Tool.

  • Stroke Asset: A colored or image-based stroke used with the Line & Shape Tool.

  • Preset Asset: A custom Brush preset used with the Brush Tool.

Each Asset type has its own properties and creation workflow. These are covered in their respective articles.

Asset Properties

Select an Asset to view and edit its properties in the Details Panel.

Some properties are shared across Asset types, while others only apply to a specific type.

Type-Specific Properties

Each Asset type includes additional properties that control how it behaves in the editor. These may include:

  • Placement behavior

  • Shadows and Blend Modes

  • Collision and Anchor Points

  • Clip Masks

  • Child Assets

  • Stroke appearance

Refer to the article for the relevant Asset type for details.

Organizing Assets

Assets can be assigned to a Pack during upload or moved between Packs later. To organize Assets, use drag and drop or the Asset context menu to:

  • Move Assets between Packs.

  • Reorder Assets within a Pack.

  • Add Stamps to Stamp Sets or Stroke Assets where supported.

Assets without an assigned Pack appear in the Assets section at the root of the hierarchy.
