Resize

The Resize feature allows you to change your maps boundaries. Depending on the area you select, this may change the scale of your map.
Unlike traditional image editors, Inkarnate does not use a fixed canvas size. Instead, Resize scales all map content so the selected area fills the entire map. This allows you to create more space around your map, zoom in on a smaller region, or change the map’s aspect ratio by adjusting the selection.
Open Resize by selecting Resize Map / New Map from Region from the Main Menu. Resize never modifies the original map. Instead, Inkarnate creates a copy, applies the resize operation to the copy, and opens it automatically when the process is complete.
Important
Resize does not increase or decrease the canvas size. Instead, it scales the contents of the map so the selected area becomes the new map.
Paid Feature
The Resize feature are available with a paid subscription.
Selecting the New Map Area
When entering Resize mode, the entire map is selected by default. Move or resize the selection rectangle to choose the area that should become the new map.
Selecting a larger area scales all map content down, creating additional empty space around the existing map.
Selecting a smaller area scales all map content up, effectively zooming in on the selected region.
The selection can be adjusted using the preview or by entering values directly in the tool panel. The following properties are available:
Origin Offset: Moves the top-left corner of the selection.
Width & Height: Controls the size of the selected region.
Aspect Ratio Lock: Keeps the width and height proportional while resizing. Enabled by default.
Remove Assets Outside Selection: Deletes objects that are completely outside the selected region after resizing. Objects that are partially inside the selection are preserved.
Snap to Grid: Available in the bottom panel. Aligns the selection to the map grid.
Moving or resizing the selection changes which part of the existing map will fill the new map.
Tips
To make room around your existing map, select an area larger than the current map.
To focus on a specific part of the map, select a smaller area.
